Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe's sturdy artifact, a Gibson F5 model mandolin and case made by leather artist Nick Boone, turned 100 years old in July 2023 and on view at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, TN. Multi Grammy Award Winner and Father of Newgrass, Sam Bush comments on how "Nick was the best possible choice for the Bill Monroe project. As far I'm concerned, there's no one better.""As much running around the country as Mr. Monroe was doing in those days, I knew that the case would see hard times," Boone said. "And I didn't want anyone tapping on my casket someday saying that I had to get up and go back to work because Bill's case was in need of repair."
